If you need a snack that’s quick, clean, and actually satisfying, these Date & Matcha Energy Bites are a solid choice. Naturally sweet from Medjool dates and balanced with the earthy depth of matcha, they’re energising without feeling heavy. Best part? You can make a batch in minutes and keep them ready for the week.
The flavour works because the caramel-like sweetness of dates softens matcha’s bold notes, creating a balanced, nutrient-dense bite.
Ingredients (Makes 10–12)
-
1 cup soft Medjool dates, pitted
-
½ cup rolled oats
-
¼ cup almonds (or cashews)
-
1 tbsp culinary matcha
-
1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
-
1 tbsp coconut oil
-
Pinch of sea salt
-
Shredded coconut for coating (optional)
Method
1. Blend the base
Add dates, oats, nuts, and salt to a food processor. Blend until the mixture becomes sticky and crumbly.
2. Add flavour and texture
Add matcha, chia seeds, and coconut oil. Blend again until the mixture holds together when pressed.
3. Shape
Roll into small bite-sized balls using your hands.
4. Coat (optional)
Roll in shredded coconut for added texture and a clean finish.
5. Chill
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up before serving.
Storage Tip
Keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. They’re ideal before a workout or as a mid-afternoon energy boost.
